Blockley Allotments
Growing a Community in the North Cotswolds
The Blockley and District Allotment Association (BDAA) site is located off Station Road, Blockley near Moreton in Marsh. The BDAA is a registered charity and relies entirely on its membership and donations to manage and maintain the site. For over 100 years Blockley Allotments have been a community focal point for the village and surrounding district, providing friendship, exercise, education and healthy local food for plot holders, their family, friends and the wider community.

The allotments have an historical significance since they have been in continual use, by the community, for over a hundred years, as evidenced by an OS Map of 1902 showing Garden Allotments. Blockley Horticultural Society records confirm an Allotment Cup awarded in 1926 and Northwick Park historical record allotment activity back to 1880s. They are an important part of the social history of the village and, in some instances, plots have been worked by many generations of one family.
Blockley allotments are located within an AONB and provide an attractive patchwork of flowers, fruit, vegetables, trees and hedgerows. Communal areas are well maintained (which reflects the importance of the allotments to the community and the Blockley Allotments have won first prize in the Moreton Show in for many years, including more recently 2012, 2013, 2017 and 2021.

As of March 2022 Blockley and District Allotment Association (a registered charity) now own the land under a 999 Lease which is adjoining the old Blockley allotment site. At a time when allotment sites, all around the UK are disappearing for good, the allotments in Blockley provide access to growing your own produce for many generations to come.
